Vassilios Kokkas Vassilios Kokkas Athens Vassilios Kokkas, (*1965, Athens, Greece) is a greek german composer of new music in the western, modern traditional sense. Fundamental influences range from Bach to Debussy to Darmstadt, Xenakis and Cage, Nono, Walter Zimmermann, LaMonte Young and Alvin Lucier, through the richness of environmental soundscapes and noise, and the ancient polyphonic tradition of Epirus. Kokkas concluded formal studies in music at the Universität der Künste Berlin with Walter Zimmermann with a diploma of composition in 1996, after studies in piano, flute and higher music theory and composition in his birth town Athens.
