Xavi Altés aka USMEV was born in Barcelona and still lives in the great city. He learned to play the piano and guitar at the conservatory during his childhood. He started playing as a dj and producing at the age of 16, releasing his first tracks in 2001. Some of his releases ended up on labels as MBF Ltd (DE), Resopal Schallware (DE), Cymasonic (NO), Bogota Records (NO), Traum Schallplatten (DE) or Monza Ibiza Records (ES). He has played with artists such as Redshape, Anton Pieete, Lee Van Dowsky, Mirko Loko, Fairmont and Luna City Express; and his releases received the support from artists such as Laurent Garnier, Luciano, Richie Hawtin, Stacey Pullen, Joseph Capriati, Agoria, Marco Carola and Danny Tenaglia, among others.
After reaching #28 in the Traxsource Deep House list and staying there for 6 weeks, he was predicted as one of the 15 Spanish artists to look at by the leading music publication Remezcla, Maya Jane Coles charted his remix of Maurice Aymard's "Dead feat. Colorado", and “Rondure EP” (MBF Ltd, 2014) was also described as “deep house for fine ears” by the prestigious magazine DJ Mag, which rated the release with an outstanding 8'5.
And then 2015: "Supreme Being" on Seven Villas Music (Pablo Bolivar's label), a new remix for Trulz & Robin on Cymasonic (featured on XLR8R), another remix for Marius Franke on MBF Ltd., "This Vibe EP" on Cymasonic (featured on XLR8R too) and finally "The Tropical Express" on MBF Ltd. (featured by John Digweed on Transitions Radio Show).
Two new releases came on 2016: "I Wanna Dance With You feat. Acid Pimps" on Envy Music and "Enkimdu und Ninurta" on Cymawax (12" including remixes by Pablo Bolivar and Trulz & Robin).
A new collaboration in 2017 with Camilla Luna including a remix by Johnny Fiasco on Bogota Records, another EP on Seven Villas Music including a remix by Kresy (Hivern Discs) and another release on Alma Soul Music before the summer.
“I'll Keep Fighting feat Camilla Luna” was his last release as USMEV, out in 2018 on Barcelona based label Minifunk, and included remixes by Sistema, Fernando Lagreca and Javier Orduña.
His first work as CARLES XAVIER was released on Galaktika Records (November 2018), a remix for Adham Zahran’s “Empire” included in his “Longing EP”.
