High school Athletics, Scholarships and Parent Teacher Communication by NCTV17 published on 2019-01-29T20:57:59Z On this episode, the Moms talk about parent/teacher communications. Parent/teacher conferences are a staple elementary school, but often attendance goes down from there. “There is a lot of attention on kids who are advance learners and those who are struggling, and not as much on the vast majority of kids in the middle,” say Cathy. She takes a more laid-back approach with her sons, letting them take ownership of their grades and homework. All the Moms agree that teachers play a big part in their kids’ lives and parent, teacher, and student communication is one of the keys to school success. On the second segment, the Moms are joined by Bob Quinn, Athletic Director of Naperville North High School, to talk about kids in sports and the potential for scholarships in college. Though many kids and parents may dream of playing at the college level, the odds are slim and Quinn believes, “What is important for all parents and moms to understand is athletics, by and large, need to be based and focused on the facts that it is an opportunity to learn life lessons.” Genre Entertainment
