Growing Music by Sounding Bodies published on 2019-10-26T19:50:47Z "Growing Music" is a one of a kind experiment created by Jacqueline Hamelink and performed at the Dutch Design Week 2019 (Eindhoven, NL). The soundscape is created from recorded live concerts at the Growing Paviljon, a bio-based building, between 19 and 26 October 2019. Every day at 11:00 PM, a 20 minute concert with classical music (solo pieces from J.S. Bach) is played live, recorded and then immediately transformed into a soundscape that plays in the Growing Paviljon for the rest of the day. Each following day, a new concert is integrated in the soundscape, making it richer and letting it grow. To let the live concert emerge naturally from the soundscape of the previous day, composer Aart Strootman composes a "pre-prelude". This pre-prelude can be played over the existing soundscape, introducing the new instrument. The following instruments were used: cello, violin, harpichord, accordion, small organ and grand piano. Participating musicians were Jacqueline Hamelink, Diederik van Wassenaer, Goska Isphording, Vincent van Amsterdam, Laurens de Man, Stevko Busch, Maximiliano Ciaffi and Eilidh Martin. The soundscape is designed by Richard van Kruysdijk.
