Many Shapes of Volumes 2019 by SHL published on 2019-03-30T17:18:01Z Drawing on the desire to capture and contain sound, I have designed these sound objects to hold the environmental soundscapes within. The project utilises both primitive materials and new technologies; the choice of ceramic significant in its timeless nature, along with the integration of modern audio technology within. Throughout my experience of hearing loss, I have continued to take inspiration from my illustration background and explore the ways in which sound can be transformed into a visual form. Here, a combination of these experiments with sound and playful visual language results in a multi-faceted audio and visual installation experience. With this work, I encouraged the participants to explore and take ownership of sound and celebrate their individual sonic identities.
