Episode 1: Why the World Needs a War on Cars by The War On Cars Podcast published on 2018-08-16T15:13:32Z The War On Cars, a new podcast from Sarah Goodyear (@buttermilk1), Doug Gordon (@BrooklynSpoke), and Aaron Naparstek (@Naparstek). Produced by Curtis Fox. Music by Nathaniel Goodyear. In this pilot episode, we discuss why the world needs a War on Cars and ask if tech—and more specifically tech companies—can save our cities from the car. Are e-scooters, Lyft buses, and self-driving Ubers running through Elon Musk's tunnels the wave of the future, or are they a harbinger of dystopia? Genre News & Politics Comment by Anya Really glad to see this podcast on this important issue -- great idea! However, I am very turned off by Sarah's gratuitous swearing. Doesn't add anything to the discussion. Would suggest she tone it down. 2018-10-09T23:34:50Z Comment by Cody Witham Very cathartic hearing this. 2018-08-23T23:36:48Z Comment by jeffrono Love this!! 2018-08-23T02:48:43Z Comment by Spencer Boomhower Really excited about this podcast! Despite the fact that I actually, you know, kinda like cars. But individually, not the sprawl-inducing, street-ruining, climate-altering monstrosity that is car dependence and motordom as a whole. Re: scooters, seeing them zip around town (Portland, OR) in basically the same places bikes normally go, seeing riders trying to squeeze themselves awkwardly onto the same streets and sidewalks that aren't quite hospitable to bikes and imagining those rider feel the same sort of vulnerability I do when I'm on my bike, I count each scooter rider as a likely ally in the struggle for more people-friendly streets and bike infrastructure. Bring 'em on I say. Looking forward to hearing more! 2018-08-21T18:54:28Z Comment by John Lascurettes Is there a way to listen to this podcast through traditional XML feeds? That is through other clients other than Soundcloud? 2018-08-20T20:36:17Z Comment by cdamian Scooters are really popular here in Barcelona. Not so much the shared ones, but privately owned. They are basically used the same way as bicycles. 2018-08-20T13:17:57Z
