Guru Singh: Buried Treasures Revealed by Beautiful Writers Podcast published on 2016-12-09T21:13:09Z Linda Sivertsen interviews her longtime friend Guru Singh—a third-generation yogi, spiritual leader, and author—for one of her most powerful conversations yet. Named “Best Guru in L.A.” by Los Angeles magazine in the early 90s (that claimed Guru's yoga classes were so popular, attendees had to levitate for space), Linda made an appointment to see what all the hype was about. What she found was positively addictive. For decades, people of all faiths have flocked to this minister of Sikh Dharma because, as you’ll see, his unique and profound take on the world is spellbinding. We also can’t say enough about Guru's memoir, BURIED TREASURES: The Journey From Where You Are To Who You Are, a book that takes you through a most mystical of hero’s journeys. About this episode! Guru Singh is epic, and we need epic right about now. We promise you’ve never heard insights like the ones you’re about to discover… crazy-cool strategies on bringing through your most inspired writing; cutting-edge wisdom on what the heck is going on with our planet (and between the sexes!), and the enormous benefits of sitting in the lap of your creator and whispering in its ear, to name a few. It’s long. Our longest episode yet. And we’re guessing you may just wish he’d gone on even longer:). Guru has requested we tape today’s show without a co-host, to make the chat a little more intimate. Get your pen and papers ready, if you’re not driving. Because your mind is about to be blown. And, to take your writing dreams from Idea to Done, we’ll see you over at: www.beautifulwriterspodcast.com Genre Storytelling Comment by Reluctant Spider I like the comment about a verdant mind, but folks should also know there are plenty of times when the ego shys away from the task at hand because they don't like the feeling of being uncomfortable. It's human and ok. But running isn't the best answer either. Wisdom is knowing the difference. 2017-07-31T19:19:16Z Comment by Joseph Mello Thank you for this interview. Guru Singh's insights for connecting and living from yourself are so clear. It was a fun listen. He has some misunderstood ideas though, relating to nighttime work and ambrosial hours. Working 3-5 am does not induce the brain wave patterns consistent with lucid dreaming. That's a different phoenomenon. The sun's energy doesn't always increase after midnight. It depends on the time of the year, and latitude, so ambrosial hours should shift. Examples of inventors were mistaken. The ones he mentioned attributed discoveries to dreams; they awoke and worked, or remembered the dream the next day. Not from working 3 to 5 am. Edison worked long hours (7 or 8 am to 11pm or midnite) and took catnaps, as opposed to working overnight. I do not see where his views have (factual) precision you noted when you introduced the show. Overall, I am glad I listened. Consider Clark Strand's book Waking Up to the Dark for a future show. 2017-07-27T18:49:08Z Comment by Annie thank you so so much, this is so inspiring and finally i know why i am awake in the middle of the night. thank you. love from berlin 2017-04-23T12:02:28Z Comment by Homaya Amar Legendary!
