Fit To Eat S3E2 Adam Blanchard by Ivan Emke published on 2022-11-07T21:11:01Z It’s just a handful of ingredients. Well, a kettleful really, as some of them would leak out of your hands. Milk, rennet, culture, maybe salt… then, if you want to get fancy add in some herbs, dried fruits, maybe hot peppers. Of course, I’m talking about cheese. I expect that many of you are familiar with the cheese brand that we’ll be talking about today on "Fit to Eat." For some, it could be your favourite cheese brand. Now, a food store can have thousands of brands but there is a story behind each one of them. Today we get one of these stories. We learn about the challenges of keeping a product on the shelf, and the sense of accomplishment that can come from all of that work. Every few years I check in with Adam Blanchard, the entrepreneur behind Five Brothers Cheese. This fall I dropped in on him in his new digs in one of the province’s agricultural hotspots – Cormack. We talk about cheese (of course) but also about the many struggles of small business enterprises, and the need to develop supports for entrepreneurs – including mental health assistance. Join us. There’s always room for one more in the cheese shed. Season 3 of "Fit to Eat" is supported by the Community Radio Fund of Canada. Genre Learning
