Fit To Eat S3E18 Tim Walsh by Ivan Emke published on 2023-02-27T20:46:38Z The scripture readings for this morning are taken from political activist and believer in the human tendency toward good, Mahatma Gandhi, and celebrated neurologist and researcher of the mind and soul, Oliver Sacks. From Gandhi, “To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil is to forget ourselves.” And according to Sacks: “In many cases, gardens and nature are more powerful than any medication.” Try to keep these in the back of your mind. This time on “Fit to Eat” we are at one of the gems on Mount Scio road in St. John’s - the MUN Botanical Garden. We’re meeting up with Tim Walsh, researcher, gardener, educator, media personality, passionate enthusiast of the plant world. I get the sense that he hasn’t met a plant yet that he doesn’t admire, in some way. Even if he doesn’t necessarily want it taking over his raised beds. We’re talking with Tim Walsh of the MUN Botanical Garden about the expansive and intimate relationship between plants and people, and about his own particular journey from a youngster in Kingman’s Cove to a gardening celebrity on CBC. It’s a crisp morning in early December, so we meet in Tim’s warm office at the Garden, for an equally cozy chat. Shove aside some Botany books and join us. Season 3 of "Fit to Eat" is supported by the Community Radio Fund of Canada. Genre Learning
