Rabindranath Tagore - A poet of the world in Camden - event by Camden Local Studies published on 2022-03-02T14:31:33Z The Tagore Centre UK presented an event for Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre on Tuesday 1 March 2022, celebrating the Bengali literary giant Rabindranath Tagore. This recording of the event includes readings from his works, recitals of his songs, and talks about his life, including his time living in the Vale of Health, Camden. Poet, novelist, composer, singer, philosopher and educationalist, in 1913 he became the first non-European writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. In the year of the 50th anniversary of the creation of Bangladesh, it is fitting to mark Camden’s connection with this fascinating figure so loved and revered by Bengali speakers. Included in the event but not in this recording is the video of a piece inspired by one of Tagore's poems - https://youtu.be/G_FOf5pfim8 - and the Q&A session at the end. Genre Learning
