He's Just 23 Chromosomes by Anya Steinberg published on 2021-02-09T04:28:44Z Comment by Kirkja This was so wonderfully raw. Very interesting to hear the different character dynamics in your family as each person handled the weight of this story. Thank you for sharing this, and good luck with your future creative endeavors! 2021-08-20T23:34:57Z Comment by Buckethead betos mamma Anya, your podcast was beautiful and brave,! I chanced upon it on FB because Dan is the son of one of my friends...My supposedly-sperm-bank- son is 24 years old. We had chosen sperm from an East Indian man, but my son Raji came out fair-skinned and blue eyed. We eventually we asked for a DNA test. They did not match. He had many of the same pandora's box questions as you did,. The fertility doctor's office made the excuse that their freezer was messy. (What?!!) Time to take down the map of India over Raji's bed and put up--I didn't know. We decided not to take legal action, because we knew Raji was the right kid for us. But honestly, it was probably one of the doctors, and we will likely never know for sure. We had to toss the donor's life information papers, though, and stop thinking about how we saw his traits in Raji, because it wasn't so. Thank you for sharing your story! We finally hit the jackpot but along the way others did too - through a private doc in upper Manhattan. Make deliveries - sterile cup in my bra - ! 2021-04-26T03:19:13Z Comment by User 467924885 Love this, Anya. My kids are both donor-conceived... but born into a two-mum family, so they knew from the start. Weirdly we found out the ID of the donor kind of randomly. I’m glad for my kids (teens who are also part asian because of me) 2021-04-22T21:42:23Z Comment by Fred Congratulations ! For the NPR Student Podcast Challenge.
