LeerBrosBand@Bishop OReilly H.S. Feb 1982 by LeerBrothersBand published on 2020-04-13T01:26:18Z The Leer Brothers Band played Bishop O'Reilly H.S. in Feb 1982 This recording captures that performance from the Stage in the Gym. It was a Pep Rally Dance held Friday from 8pm to 11pm (sets: 90-on/30-off/60-on) supporting an upcoming basketball game with O'Reilly's rivals from Pittston - hence the band's "encouragements". Thanks to Paul Smedley for booking the band that night and to everyone who showed up especially the dancers who jumped on stage for "Love Stinks"! Recorded on a 4-track Dokorder 7140 @ 7.5 ips by roadies and technicians Bert Decker and Bob Mehan via stereo monitors of 2 joined Tapco 6 channel mixers (Vocals and Drums) to Tracks 1 & 2 (L&R) and 2 mics on stage between Mike and Twig and Jay and Lars to Tracks 3 & 4 (L&R). Mike and Jay had auxiliary guitar cabinets on each side of the back-line making it easier to hear each other. Vocal mics captured whatever ambient monitor sound was available to them giving the listener the "drummer's audio perspective". You can hear Jay Leer talking to them - re: monitors, mix, lights - the usual stuff. The recording seems to improve with every song. In order to record as much as possible on the two reels of tape the band provided, crowd reactions and songs with obvious audio glitches were not recorded. That said, with headphones there are things that can be heard in the background and in-between songs that were played immediately after one another. The band would like to publicly recognize Bob Mehan's and Bert Decker's contribution to making this recording possible. They were 16-18 years old at the time, helped set up equipment, ran the lights, listened for Jay Leer, brought and integrated the strobe lights for Twig's drum solo, watched for problems on stage, listened to Jay Leer, monitored the recording with headphones, made on-the-fly decisions on what they heard, changing reels, remembered what Lars showed them about the Dokorder, and generally paid attention to everything. Talk about stress? They never showed it. We hope you enjoy this uncovered audio one-off. https://soundcloud.com/user-602317201/leerbrosbandbishop-oreilly-hs-feb-1982 0:00 Pickguard/I Need To Know 0:25 Once Bitten Twice Shy 5:01 Lets Go 8:38 Whip It 8:58 I've Done Everything For You 12:15 Doctor Doctor 17:15 Tryin' To Live My Life Without You (Basketball rap) 20:45 Young Turks 25:32 Rolling Stones Medley (She's So Cold, Satisfaction, Jumping Jack Flash, Let's Spend The Night Together, Start Me Up) 33:55 You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling 38:49 Turning Japanese (Get Out Of Gym Free!) 43:26 Born To Run 48:04 You Shook Me All Night Long/Highway To Hell 54:22 Shake It Up 58:05 Love Stinks 1:03:41 Psycho Killer (intro) 1:03:52 I'm All Out Of Love 1:07:49 Life During Wartime 1:12:31 That's When The Music Starts 1:15:27 BONUS: Under My Drum Solo If you made it this far: THANK YOU!
