I didn't know you at Harvard -- I hardly knew anyone while I was there -- but I remember you, and I am happy to hear of the multi-culturalism in your family and your successes in Japan. My partner and I visited Japan for the first time a couple of years ago, and the people we met there were open and welcoming. A Kyoto bus driver marked the arrival at our street with a basso rendition of a Japanese phrase that sounded to our ears like "Oh God."
