Juniper by Andrew Burke published on 2021-10-30T15:19:05Z Written for the Merriweather District Artist in Residence. Premiered September, 2021, Columbia, MD, Jorge Ruvalcaba conducting. Sam Carullo, marimba Josh Blessing, vibraphone Meng Chieh Chiang, crotales Nicolle Avilla, violin I Claire Hebeisen, violin II Rose Wodarcyk, viola Natalia Vilchis, cello Yoshiaki Horiguchi, bass Brittaney Pertsas, horn Jordan Shropshire, horn Anita Rodriguez, horn Recorded October, 2021 Juniper was written to be performed with an immersive staging, where the audience is surrounded by the performers. The strings and percussion may be arranged in a fairly standard orchestral configuration, but with enough spacing to create a slight semicircle around the front of the audience. The crotales and horns should be placed at a distance from the rest of the performers, completing the circle opposite the strings and percussion.
