Connections through Folklore: Dancing with Takiri Podcast (Thesis Project) by The Pozole published on 2021-12-29T11:26:41Z “Connections through Folklore: Dancing with Takiri" is a 3-part podcast series about Takiri, a Durham dance community whose members are from across Latin America and the Caribbean. The podcast explores the theme of ritual and healing, examines some of the members’ personal experiences, and looks at the meanings of the song and Takiri’s performance of La Piragua. The podcast is an ongoing project that aims to preserve Takiri history, its diverse member's stories, and highlight their contributions to North Carolina's changing economic and cultural landscape. Future episodes will be available in English and Spanish. This collaborative project emerged from research between Takiri and Daniel Reyes a Master's of Folklore graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who developed this project as his master's thesis.
