Nicholas Johnson is an Iowa City native, and has worked on both coasts. He held 3 presidential appointments, notably as FCC Commissioner during the Lyndon B Johnson administration, served as US Maritime Administrator and co-director of the Public Health Institute, and was an advisor on a White House conference during the Carter administration. Now retired from teaching law at the University of Iowa, he continues to write on many subjects, and is the author of many articles, essays and books.
