Iceberg Calving - Hansbreen Glacier by Scripps Institution of Oceanography published on 2020-04-06T21:42:41Z Scientists at Scripps Institution of Oceanography recorded an iceberg calving event in the summer of 2016 near the Hansbreen glacier in Svalbard, Norway, using underwater acoustic recorders. The calving event in this sample is heard between 10 and 15 seconds, a very distinct signal as the iceberg impacts the ocean surface. The noise heard before and after the event is coming mostly from air bubbles bursting from the glacier ice as it melts. Genre Science
