NPR Podcast-Mr. Engle by BrianR published on 2020-03-13T19:25:31Z Todd Engle, also known as Bubba, was a gym teacher throughout the Amherst School District. In 2013, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). During this time, the Amherst community rallied around him and showed their support with various events, decorating the community in orange. Mark Valenti, owner of Blind Dog Gym, held an event to raise money for the Engle family. People of many ages and fitness levels attended the event, “Burpees for Bubba.” Still to this day, people wear their orange “Team Bubba” shirts and bracelets.
