Start it up with Erik Ackner - an interview in China by KikaYang published on 2019-01-11T06:34:57Z This interview came as a spontaneous initiative, within the research for a project with the goal to convey a portrait of the city of Chengdu through some of it's members. In the years spent here, Erik Ackner has clearly left an expressive contribution. A fitness fanatic, entrepreneur, event organizer a natural net-worker born in Germany, he aims to help China's and Germany's startup community and ecosystem to thrive and connect with the rest of the world. An advocate for the local and international startup community, he had many appearances as speaker, judge, mentor or host at international events and conferences such as Slush, Startup Grind, Startup Weekend, AngelHack, Pirate Summit, Startup Festival Korea, 4YFN, TEDx, Pechakucha, Tech Tour, various universities, media and many more. An enthusiastic communicator, in the interview he shares his impressions on the contemporary Chengdu, what makes this place in his eyes special and somewhat comparable to his previous home – Berlin. Founding companies, managing partnerships, having to fire someone, closing a business to reopen it more efficiently later... these and many other stories show how much passion he has for his work and that success is really is a matter of setting what's important for you and staying focused! Recorded in December 2018. Thanks Ethan Zhang from We Work for the space and Charlie for helping us make this accessible!
