Stephen Fulder - “Actions Without an Actor?” by London Insight Meditation published on 2021-11-29T12:17:14Z On the 28th of November, Stephen Fulder taught an online retreat day on the theme of "Actions Without an Actor". The nature and transparency of the self, the ‘me’, is an essential core element of the journey to wisdom and a liberated life. Yet it is often hard to relate to in practice, and in life, and we can be left with it as a mysterious Buddhist concept of Anatta or emptiness. It can become much clearer if we explore how it feels to act in life with less dependence on an actor, controller and subject. This also addresses important questions: how can we make choices, how can we act effectively, how can we engage with the community, who is it that practices, and how can we look after ourselves with less of a ‘doer’ in charge of things? In this one day online intensive Stephen offered guided practice and invited insights into the self and beyond the self, exploring its implications in relation to action in life.
