Andy Axsom on KLIF by unthsc published on 2012-12-06T15:52:38Z Andy Axsom’s job is to help students at the UNT Health Science Center. But the roles reversed when a UNTHSC medical student helped Axsom complete the final stages of a journey from weighing 385 in 2010 to being fit enough to run the Dallas Marathon on Sunday, Dec. 9. Axsom – now 130 pounds lighter -- is director of Student Development, helping students succeed through new student orientation, career services, international student services, student governments and organizations …. And serving as a healthy example. First-year Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine student Heinz Schwarzkopf, a former collegiate athlete who works part-time as boot camp instructor and a personal trainer at the UNTHSC gym, has been coaching Axsom since Aug. 20, 2012, for the marathon. Schwarzkopf also is running the marathon.
