I am aware of resources and now the 6 core practices....but a bit of polite, constructive criticism will now follow. I was a bit upset by the part of the discussion about "teachers who are glued to the textbook." I have 4-preps, a club that I sponsor (unpaid), a family who needs my presence and personal exercise goals (1 hr per day). I leave almost everyday at 5:30-6 p.m. While it's true that great teachers should not be concerned with getting paid for all of their services beyond the school day, I find something inherently wrong with this guilt and yet what is the solution? The Spanish teacher next door with one prep has chucked the book....conditions are right for that person...but they aren't in place for everyone. Now do I only use the textbook? Absolutely not. I inject and I reject some aspects of the cheesy textbook. Moral: Life isn't always fair. An empty well serves no one. We have to do what we can and seek to understand. 2016-09-03T11:49:16Z
