"UHOH!" Nina "AC" Casey screamed as she tripped over her feet, dancing, "THIS IS IT!"
Head over heels diving into hypnotic basslines, eletronic beats and squirming synths.
In 2008, after abandoning her conventional band outfits, where she had played bass for a decade in power pop formations and indie rock bands like MILES , CRASH TOKIO and french-beatniks PHONOBOY, she formed UHOH as her embraced evolution/revelation.
Turning towards the microphone, she started sincere singing, dancing and composing her own private spherical popmusical.
Teaming up for songwriting and some serious live action with Red "El Nino Listo" and Bunny Buzz, she brought UHOH to the stage and has played over 100 shows throughout the country, even getting an invite to the Williamsburg Arts Festival in New York.
"Wow, so this is german electro!" was the verdict, while in the backround two stuffed horses were making love on a honeymoon bed (We have pictures!).
Developing the stage version of her spherical popmusical, Casey locked up in her studio to create costumes to bring her stories sung to life:
A mermaid watching Brian Wilson surf, an electrified drug trip driving two teenagers to blood stained excess, vagabond tales of conning gold and silver and encounters with ghosts giving advice how to elevate.
Tribal drumming introduces the spherical popmusical, taking the audience on a trip to a multicolored neverland, then exploding into a confetti rage.
A neon glowing stage turns into an underwater tale turns into outerworldly woreship.
In 2010, Casey and her collaborators finally found their most perfect producer:
Stockholm-expat Anders Ehlin, residing in Berlin, opened up his studio doors to let in the dance craze.
His previous works include records of Soffy O., Paula and, of course, his very own outfit, Nom de Guerre. Match made in heaven.
Together, they worked out the shape and sound of UHOH:
Beats, bass, spheres.
Plucky guitars, pinching yelps, soul searching saxophones.
What started as homegrown sound breeding turned into rays of pushing modern electro and funk music.
A golden disco glow settles on UHOH thanks to the also exordinary production of "IN ON IT" and "PLANNING TO TELL" credited to Thomas Hahn of Hahn & Hahn, who layed hands on those two songs in 2009 (http://hahnundhahn.net/).
Due to intensive DIY-touring and releasing songs through the web, UHOH gained the attention of myspace talent scouts and contributed the song "PLANNING TO TELL" to the first MySpace Playlist (http://www.amazon.de/MySpace-Playlist-Vol-1-Various/dp/B0028LJV22), mingling among The Gossip, Peaches, MGMT and alikes.
To quote Calvin Johnson of Beat Happening and K Records, explaining his turn on DIY music:
"It's what I want to hear! Yeah, that's right!
There's no right way to do it. There's just, there's just doin' it!", UHOH has embarked on a very own trip, diving into it head over heels.
