Harp On Mouth Sextet "EGM" all tracks digest by Harp On Mouth Sextet

After five and a half years since their last album „Kasane no Neiro“ release, finally the new album of Harp On Mouth Sextet(abbr. HOMS) is out now.

Their new album is focusing on giving depth in sounds and how each tracks develop with elements of surprise such as using a method for agogics which you hear in „Gagaku(Japanese ancient imperial court music and dances)“. This kind of challenge made them a success to portray a sublime and quite unique dance music with a sense of Japanese traditional music, and fine melodies with ever-changing beat styles like EDM, Dub, Chillstep, Juke or Footwork in a dynamic way induce nostalgia - which leads you to a completely parallel universe.

The concept of making japanesque sounds by not using any traditional instruments such as Shō or Hichiriki which are often used in Gagaku music remains, but one of the characteristic feature this time is an unexpected reaction caused by improvisations they tried with the new band-members.

In addition to the prepared harmonica which has been their main instrument for a long time, they also made full use of E-melodica, E-harmonica and even the kettle with steam whistle to create a deep beautiful ensemble with different layers of overtone notes and female voices are thereto - It’s promising that you can experience a new front of electronic music they succeeded to develop.

This album title „EGM“ means not only an abbreviation of „Electronic Gagaku Music“, but rather the electronic music which functions more in a specific space comparing to „BGM“. Once you push the play button, get awaken from the distant past and a journey to the another dimension begins.
