It cuts the amount of time left to debate - or attempt to stop - a no-deal Brexit. Opposition leaders are accusing Boris Johnson of a constitutional outrage. Many church leaders have voiced their concerns about the prospect of a no-deal Brexit. The Church of Scotland says consensus on Brexit must be reached across the UK & the government should use “whatever mechanisms are necessary to create the time for this to happen.” Meanwhile, a group of Church of England bishops are worried about a no-deal Brexit and the impact on “those least resilient to economic shocks”.
