Manchester, Britain (UK)
It was New Years Eve 2000 that Jenny Harrison aka TwistedSista decided that she wanted to be a dj, it was after presenting a nightclubbing programme on SKY TV, in which she visited various clubs across the UK interviewing djs and clubbers that she found herself in clubs that she didn’t even know existed and listening to the latest cutting edge tracks one week and visiting somewhere playing Classic Anthems the next, HEAVEN and getting paid for it, BONUS!!
“I started listening more intensely to the mixing and then found myself hearing the next tune of my choice coming in, but it never did, so I decided to make that happen!”
In June 2000 after a News Years resolution to teach herself to mix, jenny purchased 2 new technics and a mixer, cdj's were not about then, and laptops were never used either..mad considering her hands had never even touched a deck, she taught herself to mix and 6 weeks later she had secured warm up sets at Venus, Manchesters longest running Saturday funky house night, within 3 months she was headlining there and loving it, she had gone from being clubber to main dj within 5 months. other residencies quickly followed at some of the UKs favourite house night
Spotted by Miss Moneypenny’s very early on in her career Jenny was offered a residency at her favourite club in Birmingham alongside Jim Shaft Ryan, Kenny Dope, DJ Disciple, Masters at Work, Jeff Jefferson, Eryc Prydz, Ken Fan....not bad for a beginner. Then came Chuff Chuff, the crème de la crème of all parties at the time “I had reached my goals very early on in my dj career, I needed new goals quick, ha ha!”
Next Jenny toured Indonesia with Boy George, and Mark Vedo-What a scream"!!
Jenny also won female dj of the year in a competition run by the clubbing page in the daily Star 2000. On the same day that article was run she was headhunted live on air by KEY 103 Manchester’ they were appealing for me to contact the show live on air, about 20 people rang me, so I contacted the station and they invited me down to the studios, i did a quick demo in the studio there and then and they offered me my own dance show every Friday night from 10pm, playing whatever I wanted!!!!! In the end I did every Friday for 2.5 years and Graeme Park was doing Saturdays, how good is that? and I loved every minute of it!”
Jenny has never looked back and now tours regularly all over Indonesia, Malaysia, Bali, Singapore, Stadium-Jakarta, -Dubai….. Ibiza - Space, DC10, Es Vive, Amnesia, Pacha, Bora Bora..... Sweden, Stockholm..... Miss Moneypenny’s UK and Worldwide..... UK- Pacha, Ministry of Sound, The Cross, - The Keys, Fabric, HQ Birmingham, CHUFF CHUFF-too many to count, keep it coming!!..... LEEDS -Federation, Mission, Glasshouse, Mint Space..... MANCHESTER - Sankeys!
Spending quite a lot of time over the years in Ibiza definately changed Jenny's style from funky to deep and everyone described her new style as twisted.....hence the name change from Jenny Harrison to TwistedSista.
Spending time and sharing villas with like minded friends/djs who where also pushing forward kept it all fresh, many of these guys are now headlining around the world, the likes of jamie Jones (Hot Creations) Richy Ahmed, Russ yallop, (Crosstown Rebels) Mark Jenkyns , Jason Herd, Mark Knight, Tim Sheridan, etc etc...
Jenny may have started as a funky house dj, but she soon progressed quickly through other musical genre including deep house, electro and finally settling where her heart is with Deep house and Tech!! I have enjoyed playing every genre - when i was in that zone!! But truly am happy where i am right now!! For this she has a guise - TWISTED SISTA
'Throwing out the deep house/ tech vibes to a club/stadium/room/field/ to other like minded people is the most amazing feeling ever, i can feel it throughout me" AWESOME!!
Now more recently when Twisted Sista finds the time she spends it in the studio working with various producers to put together a few tracks that she says are stuck in her head waiting to get out!!
Now Touring regularly round Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, South America, India, and various UK clubs this is one journey that continues!!!
