Reflection of The Swan by Tuonela published on 2013/05/23 13:07:25 +0000 The song of the Swan of Tuonela was so beautifully sad that it persuaded Lemminkäinen, the hero of the great Finnish mythos known as The Kalevala, not to kill the swan (a task he was to perform in the pursuit of love). For this failure he paid a terrible , but not final, price. The first track I ever created and uploaded, http://soundcloud.com/tuonela-1/something-wicked , was made out of a classical recording: The Swan of Tuonela by the Suisse Romande Orchestra, conducted by Horst Stein. Not that you could tell, after what I did to it... At least I took my name from it, as all the others I wanted were taken. I used this recording again on a couple of other tracks, but it always mutated beyond any recognisability... This is my attempt to create something a little closer to the mood that Sibelius intended, out of the same recording.
