Tuesday Velasco
:: Singer, Songwriter, Performer, Lover ::
Tuesday Velasco was born as an 80's baby, in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Surrounded by all genres from Reggae, to Hip Hop, to R&B, Soul, Blues, Folk, and Island (Hawaiian) music, her style is diverse and versatile. That evolution hit a new peak when at the age of 10, having suffered from Insomnia since adolescence, she discovered Classic Country/Americana, Big Band and especially Jazz music, by way of her fathers CD collection, in the sleepy hours of the nite.
All her life, music has been a constant, her first performance being "Colours of the Wind" for her second grade talent show. A musical earth child through and true. It wasn't until she moved to Japan at the age of 12 did she join a show choir, or a "Glee Club" as some refer to it, and began live performance regularly. This is where she gave up pop, soul, r&b, blues, jazz music, etc-- to perform strictly Opera music for 2 years under the direction of one she refers to as "Maestro," one Philip Ulmer.
At 16 years old, she landed in Washington state, only to discover a wave of new art, new music, and new style. A month after turning 18, she packed her things and headed into the city of Seattle where she picked up the guitar, and honed in on her writing skills, between jobs, schooling, and a few good men, she never stopped singing, she never stopped writing. A little detour through Australia and New Zealand at the age of 24, and the return home to Seattle at the age of 26, fed much of her food and travel appetite...and she found much mindful and soulful growth during that time.
Now, at nearly 27, she has decided the time has come to take on music full time as she has found in all her travel and vagabondesque gypsy tumbleweed blowing in the wind living that of all the delights of her life, singing, and writing down the perpetual melodies that come to her in her sleeping and waking state, are of the utmost joy and truth to her being.
I am Tuesday Velasco, My gift is my song.
