Colorado native Trevor Jones began his musical journey at the young age of five, when he began learning piano and singing in choirs. His vocal training would later become key in his musicianship and approach to live performance. Picking up guitar at 13, he was playing professionally before he graduated high school. Heading to New Orleans for college, Trevor would pick up the late-night rhythms of the African Diaspora which seep through the very cracks of the city, an influence you can hear in most of his music. After evacuating New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina and leaving Tulane University (later to return and graduate with a psychology degree), Trevor formed the critically-acclaimed funk/rock group Frogs Gone Fishin' (nominated Denver's Best Jam Band 2011/12) with Andrew Portwood. Born from the ashes of Hurricane Katrina, Trevor and Frogs would go on to perform across the nation, playing with such renowned acts as Bill Kreutzmann (The Grateful Dead), DJ Logic, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, George Porter Jr. (The Meters), Bill Summers (Herbie Hancock), Talib Kweli, Rebirth Brass Band, Papa Grows Funk, Trombone Shorty, and many, many others. Trevor plays regularly with national touring band The Sessh and FGF electronic side-project, Ape Tit.
Trevor brings these incredible experiences and his impeccable musicianship to a dance oriented, highly funk-driven environment during his live shows. Performing on drums, guitars, keyboard, the sampler and singing, a Trevor Jones show is like no other. Trevor brings a fresh improvisational voice over the pulsating dance tracks, keeping the audience sweaty and satisfied and Trevor a step ahead of most "Press Play and Walk Away" DJ's who are so prevalent on the scene today.
Trevor's debut solo album, The Daily Routine, was released on 4.20.12.
Trevor is also a frequent blogger, you can find his words under the "Blog" link, regarding a wide range of topics from Travel (Trevor was in India last December), politics, religion and even sports.
Beyond playing over 200 shows a year and finding time to write and record, Trevor is organizing a fund-raising effort for three villages in the developing world with the hope of including sampled music from each these places in an album for download, such that the musicians involved might benefit from internet sales, without ever leaving their home countries. You can check Kickstarter.com in the coming days for more details.
