Tracy Lee Norman London Tracy Lee Norman is a vocalist and songwriter from Cape Town, South Africa. A regular in the local folk scene, and a three time finalist of the Barleycorn Songwriters’ Competition, Tracy released her debut EP 'Life As I Knew It' in 2019. In 2020 Tracy decided to take the plunge and move to London to further her music career. Arriving at the height of the pandemic, she mercifully found herself in South East London living in a house of musicians, including artist and producer Gus White. It was at Gus’ dreamy Wiltshire studio that Tracy recorded her second EP 'Distance', released on the 25th of March. Tracy’s music is a fusion of genres and influences, the core of which is folk singer-songwriter with an emphasis on lyrics, voice and story. Subtler are echoes of the Cape Town jazz scene which she grew up listening to, and the local musicians she went on to play and record her debut EP with. As she grew up wanting to be a ballet dancer and later explored dance styles ranging from contemporary to bachata, feel and rhythm have always been Tracy’s first means of relating to sound, which underpins her songwriting and arrangement. Working with different combinations of young, London-based musicians and graduates of Trinity Laban and Guildhall, 'Distance' is a new chapter of Tracy’s ever-evolving sound featuring more local influences without losing the uniqueness that is Tracy.
