Tormod Tvete Vik Tormod Tvete Vik Göteborg Tormod Tvete Vik (born 1975) is a Norwegian composer living in Gothenburg, Sweden since 2002. He is a classically trained composer working in many different fields and has a stronge urge to communicate with the listeners through his music. Composing for Tormod is all about storytelling which he explores both in concert music and film music. He started to play the violin at the age of 6, studied violin and composition/arranging at the Academy of Music in Trondheim (NTNU) and worked as a professional violinist in his own string quartet as well as the professional string orchestra Trondheim Soloists touring around the world - before dedicating his career to creating music instead. He has also studied musicology at the University of Oslo, film music composition at Lillehammer University College and music technology, conducting and pedagogy at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Tormod is a successful composer of concert music for 20 years and has composed music for strings, choir, wind band and symphony orchestra with works published by all the major publishers in Scandinavia. Besides composing for the concert scene Tormod has worked on 15 film & TV-productions as an orchestrator and recently scored his first animated children´s feature "Pelle no tale» (2020) together with Magnus Strömberg, recorded by Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra for SF Studios Productions. He has even composed music for documentaries for Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) and short films. As an arranger he has worked with major Scandinavian artists on more than 50 recordings through 20 years, and collaborated with most of the professional orchestras in Norway & Sweden. One of Tormods recent projects adapting Edvard Grieg´s music from «Peer Gynt» for Hardanger Fiddle (Ragnhild Hemsing) and string orchestra (Trondheim Soloists) released on Berling Classics, has got great reviews and was recently featured in a ballet by the Australian Ballet Company. He has also worked with Norwegian violinist Marie Samuelsen through many years and contributed with an arrangement of Hildegaard von Bingen on her latest recording on Deutsche Grammophone. Tormod likes to explore new technology and recently completed an electric violin concerto for violinist Jens Elfving. He also likes challenge to the role of the musician on stage and has experimented with music for 3 choirs placed in an acoustic surround environment. He is currently working on his project «LIFE» funded by the Swedish Arts Grants Committee - a 40 minutes work for 8 cello parts performed with sound and light design.
