Condensed history: DtK were formed in 2005 by Todd Bowes and Derek Martin, later joined by Nathan Albro on bass. They used a Korg Triton synthesizer work station for drums and synths both in the studio and live. After gigging all over Manhattan, Albro departed and was replaced by Matt Nodland (now of Circus of Dead Squirrels fame.) The band continued gigging around New York and picked up Phil Petrie as a keyboardist. Soon thereafter, Nodland departed but was not replaced; DtK continued as a three-piece. In 2007 the band began recording White Washed Miracles, a process which would take three years. In 2009, DtK picked up drummer Sebastian Cruells and bassist Scott Barley. After a string of gigs, they released White Washed Miracles in April of 2010. Shortly thereafter, Dared the Knot dissolved. Phil and Scott would go on to Ex Machinae. After a brief stint in Ex Machinae, Todd would join Dead Superstar as a guitarist. Derek and Sebastian moved out of New York, and got on with their lives. The band reunited briefly in May of 2011 at a benefit show, playing their song "Dreaming of God" with Tony III from Ex Machinae filling in for the absent Derek Martin.
