Quartet Of Queer Revolt by Timothy Arliss O'Brien

The Quartet of Queer Revolt was recorded to release with my 2021 book of poetry Happy LGBTQ Wrath Month and is included in the book with a QR-code and accompanying poem.

Written about dealing with the life changes that come with my time accepting my sexuality and letting the world know about myself while internalizing my anger at societal homophobia I envisioned a revolt in society against the dangers of such bigotry.

This string quartet breaks apart the individual instruments into multiple movements and solos creating a feeling of change and isolation, using extended techniques and avant-garde sounds.

A string quartet,
To express our rage.

We will come out,
And change this age.

Homophobia can’t withhold,
Who we were meant to be.

We will overcome, and emerge,
(Stronger than ever) you’ll see!

A revolt on the horizon,
And equity for all!

We will live our truth
And bigotry will fall.

So listen to the strings,
And let your hearts sail

For today is a new epoch,
And from now on love will always prevail.
