Rising Australian Indie / Alt / Rock Artist Timberwolf is the moniker for Christopher Panousakis, a young singer/songwriter from Adelaide, South Australia.
Timberwolf’s highly anticipated and long awaited debut album is due for release in late 2016 / early 2017. Having taken influences from psych rock and hip hop sounds dating back to the 60’s, Timberwolf’s debut album is set to be a big step up and away from his previous two EP releases.
Rolling Stone - “'There's a lot of talk about this 24 year old Adelaide-based artist, and with good reason - his lyrics are poignant, his music captivating, his motives pure”
Taking a different approach to writing his first full-length record, and unlike the past, he's drawing from different soundscapes and inspirations, and discovering the true meaning of vulnerability through simple songwriting and life experiences.
2015 saw Timberwolf perform sold out single and EP tours for ‘Fallen Sun’ and ‘Flux’ across capital cities in Australia. He also went on to perform in front of huge crowds at National festivals Groovin’ the Moo, WOMADelaide, Big Pineapple and Woodford Folk Festival.
Timberwolf ended 2015 by picking up the titles, Best Songwriter, and Best Male Artist at the South Australian Music Awards off the back of his 2015 EP release and headline tour for ‘Flux’.
The independently released EP has managed to clock over a Million Spotify streams already since it’s 2015 release, and no doubt contributed towards pulling in huge crowds for the aforementioned festival performances and tours.
Since then, Timberwolf has been working hard towards finishing his ‘yet to be named’ debut full length record, frequenting trips between L.A, co-writing with musicians including Jim Fairchild (Modest Mouse), Tommy King (Haim, Madonna, Brandon Flowers), and The Grove Studios on Australia’s Central Coast in New South Wales, where he has been recording and producing the record.
If the excitement around 2015’s releases and shows is anything to go by, then we had better prepare for some huge excitement around Timberwolf’s debut album, and be ready to embrace an artist who’s been able to side-step from writing within the constraints of a genre. Timberwolf’s new direction is a sure-fire step away from his previous sound, and it’s no surprise after drawing on influences from some of the most iconic guitar bands and inspirational singer-songwriters, current and classic, from around the World.
