Landmarks - A Cover Collection by THYMIAN

These three songs are "Landmarks" in my experience as a music lover. I listened to each of these songs on repeat for a long time, in some cases for years actually. They inspired my own music and worked as a sonic gateway drug that brought me to where I am now. I fell in love with the atmospheres these artists created with their tunes – they cheer me up, make me dance and let me cry. I tried to stick to the original sound in order to do justice to the artists and spent hours patching on my synthesizer and trying out different settings and sonic landscapes on guitars and bass. To build a bridge between their and my musical style I added additional vocal and instrumental harmonies.
Each one of the three pictures on the cover represent one song off the collection. The pictures were taken back in 2012. Back then, I didn’t own an analogue camera but I’ve found my own approach of how to achieve the analogue feel. After taking the picture with a digital camera, I retouched the picture, printed the negative onto an overhead transparency and brought it with me to the dark room where I exposed it to the photographic paper. After giving it a bath and letting it dry, I scanned it. Eventually, after 10 years, this series of photographs has found its purpose as the artwork for this cover collection.
