Thorngoth Bad Tölz THORNGOTH, which means “the horned enemy” in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Eldar language, was founded 2003 in Bad Tölz, Germany. Since the very first days the band stands for its own style to play Black Metal of the second generation in a modern way. The in 2005 released demo “Sigillum” presented the proof. Thorngoth’s vision is the creation of dark, atmospheric music, which goes to the marrow. By the ‘Thelema of Destruction’ album, which was released in 2007 via Northern Silence Productions, THORNGOTH got more attention by a wider audience. Press as well as fans were impressed by the impact of this album. 2008 the second album “Rauhnacht” followed. Thorngoth hereby proved their ability to progress, without throwing well-tried overboard. On several gigs, e.g. the Under The Black Sun Festival 2009, THORNGOTH showed that they are scoring live as well as on their records. In summer 2010 the third tonal sledgehammer, entitled “Leere”, was released. On this album the band is focussing their best abilities and sets the physical and emotional emptiness to music. Hailed by the press as “atmospheric surprise”(Metal.de) “Leere” elates press as well as fans. THORNGOTH isn’t shy to other genres of extreme metal. The latest output “SCHWARZ-KARG-KALT” isn’t limited to Black Metal but also uses elements of death or doom metal. THORNGOTH continues to sound individually, without reminding too much of other bands of black / death metal genre.
