While we all are celebrating the birth of punk 40 years ago these guys from the lowlands hooked up to form a brand new band. They have one thing in common the love for Punkrock music. The band members aren't rookies at all, they played in numerous bands before such as Convict, Heads up High and Evolve. It was a simple add on the worldwide web that brought them together. They locked themselves up for several months in their rehearsal space and started making plans to conquer the world with Punkrock anthems.
Together with Igor Wouters (Backfire!, Gold) they started recording their first EP @ Amsterdam Recording Studio late 2016. Jason Maas (Defeater) took it to another level mixing the songs @ Getaway in Boston. Finally Mike Kalajian and Stephen Kondracki gave it the soul of punk @ Rogue Planet Mastering (Machine Head, Saosin, Bouncing Souls).
This Means War! strives to combine Rock 'n Roll melody with Punk ingredients, not always an easy task. Yet, This Means War rises above the implausibility of it all, proving they're mature enough to get away wit it. Make sure you check 'Sailing Anarchy’, their loss is the world's gain as their punk loaded vocals will tear your heart apart. This Means War! never fled Punkrock nor let it confine them. Explosive drums and guitars to trade clarity for distortion without losing any impact. Potent guitar riffs will have you hooked in no time!
We peek over our shoulders when 'Those Were The Days' kicks off. An energetic Punkrock song that pays respect to the bands who paved the way for us. We remember the good old times when you actually had to speak to someone to make contact, no cell phones or Tinder profiles around but just you and me drinking a beer, listening to our favorite music and hanging at the bar.
'Keep The Homes Fires Burning' is already a Punkrock anthem that will last forever. Originally called "Till The Boys Come Home", the greatest patriotic song to come out of England during World War One. Although written in London this song was actually the result of a collaboration between an American woman, Lena Guilbert Ford, and a Welshman, Ivor Novello. The outbreak of war in 1914 generated an intense outburst of patriotism in Britain, so much that young men literally flocked to enlist; patriotic songs were all the rage, and Novello's mother, the famous music teacher and choir leader Madam Clara Novello Davies, begged her pride and joy to write one. After Novello had tinkered with the melody and some of the chorus, Lena finished off the lyrics. In 1916 'Keep The Home Fires Burning' was released ... the rest is history. Now a century later This Means War pays respect to those who sacrificed their lives on Flanders Fields for our freedom.
'Use It Up' takes you right back to the nineties when old school hardcore Punks ruled the airwaves. Bands such as Battery, Ignite, Shelter, Better Than A Thousand combined melodic sing a longs with trashy riffs. They all had a positive message in their songs and although the music was fast and aggressive the respect between bands and followers was beyond comprehension.
So lace up those boots, grease up that mohican and make sure you prepare yourself for this Punk rage that is coming your way. This Means War! will make your ears bleed starting from February 2017 with the release of their first EP 'Sailing Anarchy'! Don't say we didn't warn you!
Enough talking make sure you listen to our songs and start a riot right now!
