The Red Counts A Little Book of Jazz London The Red Counts just love the Blue Note sounds of Rudy Van Gelder - their music has nothing to do with vampires, blood cells or Marxist ideologies. They play original funky Cool Jazz in the style of 1960s artists like Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Jimmy Smith, Grant Green and Donald Byrd. The Red Counts are a collective including: Sid Gauld on trumpet, Simon Allen on saxophone, Darren Williams on drums, André Spang on piano and Stefan ‘The Count’ Redtenbacher on bass. For reasons unknown, Stefan has also taken on the task to write, mix and produce the music - he simply must love it! Being perfect gentlemen the Counts also invite other Counts from around the world to occasionally join them for some jolly Jazz making - both live and on sound recordings.
