Sean Percival was one of my colleagues at 500 Startups, where he invested in more than 100 companies over three years. Long before he was investing, he entered the tech world as a janitor at a startup. He got into social media marketing -- before that was even a thing -- and translated his expertise into a job at MySpace. Later he became founder of a company called Wittlebee, which rose the wave of subscription e-commerce before crashing in 2013. We talk about how Sean got into tech, how he literally wrote the book on MySpace marketing, and how he overcame depression after the collapse of his startup.
