The Pilot's latest 6-track album "Chekhov's Kick" was finished on 2/3/14 and will be released in a couple weeks!!
The Pilot (Zach Kimsey) is a San Francisco DJ/Producer of high-energy, melodic, midtempo breakbeats. With an affinity for thick, crunky basslines and bouncy melodies running across the entire sound spectrum, his sets are built around the dance floor. Having a deep love for all forms of body movement, you'll also catch him spinning downtempo world music for Interpretive and Ecstatic Dance shows and Acrobatic performances.
It all started on a flight to BRC, with Zach asking a DJ passenger of his "if I taught you to fly, would you teach me to spin?" A charter and acrobatic pilot since 2006, Zach had been flying San Francisco DJ/Producers to festivals and shows around the Western US to save them from long drives. After surviving a freak skydiving accident in 2010, Zach dove deeply into music himself and was fortunate to quickly meet pioneering artists and producers such as ill.gates, Love and Light, Russ Liquid, Knowa Lusion, Thriftworks, Jpod, Jef Stott, Deejay Hax, DrKnobz, Mister Boyfriend. Their influence, along with experiential and theoretical studies in physics, acrobatics, yoga and high-adrenaline sports have been woven into an evolving perspective of music from The Pilot.
The Pilot has shared the stage with Ill Gates, Love and Light, Thriftworks, 2NUTZ, Mister Boyfriend, Knowa Lusion, Russ Liquid, and played a number of festivals on the west coast, bounced all around stages and art cars at Burning Mans 2012 and 2013, and was on the2013 "Smiles for Miles" Tour with Love and Light and Jpod. He just finished his latest album on 2/3/14 (release coming shortly!!) and then planning a short tour, likely joining Atomic Reactor and/or kLL sMTH (aka 2NUTZ).
