Jazz/ World/ Fusion violinist
Themis Nikoloudis was born in Athens. Since 1998 he has been collaborating with many distinguished musicians and composers ( Audric Jankauskas, Haig Yazdjian ,Babis Tyropoulos,Vasilis Rakopoulos, Michalis Nikoloudis, Giorgos Maglaras, Nikos Sidirokastritis, Giorgos Palamiotis, Nikos Kapilidis, Vaggelis Karipis, and others) playing the violin in concerts and several recordings.
At the same time he has been performing as a violin member in many music bands with Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Dimitra Galani, Lavrentis Macheritsas, playing in concerts all over Greece and Abroad.
He began his journey in music by studying modern guitar. Later he turned to violin studies and after two years elaborating in violin technique , he got his own autonomy and continued elaborating his personal study independently in music theory ,ear training and solfeggio also he kept learning by playing next to great and very experienced musicians.
Jazz music will always be his vehicle to improvisation.
His personal sound is a mixture that comes out of the inspirational combination of the above 3 :
-The many different musical shades he enjoys (jazz, jazz rock, funk ,fusion, flamenco, latin, indian, blues)
-The great experience that comes out of all his musical collaborations next to exceptional players and mentors.
-And the tone of inspiration provided by great jazz violinists players that also influences his bowing technique and his personal compositions .
He maintains the melodic and lyrical essence in his flavor tune and stirs it with some rhythmical elements inspired by the indian rhythm (konnakol) . A system that allows the composition, performance or communication of rhythms .He twists it with some chopping (a new percussive technique specific to bowed string instruments that allows the violin sound to resembles rhythm guitar and electric base with the slap techniques.)
The last five years he is mostly committed to his personal compositions and musical
arrangements projects, studio session work, and teaching the violin.
He is a member of the Frog String Quartet.
