Asheville Internet Connectivity Project by The Light FM published on 2021-05-10T12:17:25Z We've all been spending a lot of time at home over the last year haven't we? Maybe you've spent some time working from home while your kids have participated in remote learning and noticed your Wi-Fi speed has slowed/lagged. So frustrating!! But what if at the beginning of the pandemic, you didn't have internet connection or Wi-Fi because you couldn't afford it? That was the reality for many households in the Asheville area. Today on Community Spotlight, hear from local super heroes Robby Russell (Senior VP First National Bank Asheville), Superintendent of Asheville City Schools Dr. Gene Freeman, and the Executive Director of the Asheville Housing Authority, David Nash. These three men spearheaded an initiative called "The Asheville Internet Connectivity Project" that has brought internet to more than 1,000 households for five dollars a month. Learn the story of how they worked together to get this done in just four months and hear stories of how thankful the community has been. Genre Religion & Spirituality
