The Eternal Boombox by TheJuJuExchange published on 2020-08-13T20:46:26Z The JuJu Exchange’s newest album, “The Eternal Boombox EP,” is an offering to those who are grieving right now. During the last few months, our country and our world has been experiencing much trauma – from COVID and from Whiteness. When we experience such difficulties, it is important to grieve. So we hope our EP helps you wherever you are along the 5 stages of grief: shock/denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance/hope. As a band we understand grief as catharsis and as protest. Grief can be catharsis because the process allows us to move through the different emotions associated with loss, helping us feel better in the end. Grief can be protest because grieving can signify that something is not right. Our tears can call out what should not be. Understanding grief as catharsis and protest influences how we understand this album. We want our music to help our listeners get their emotions off of their chest during these troubling times, and we want our music to serve as a protest to this country and all countries who have mishandled the Coronavirus and who have embraced Whiteness. We hope that you receive our music as a reflection pool for sorrow and a megaphone for protest. Thank you for listening. Thank you for participating in the exchange.
