Fck the haters! :-) 2016-03-11T18:54:20Z Comment by Habesha Nayele 4) Audrey Lorde- This woman wore so many hats, she allowed us to accept our anger for injustice and understand that we could still express ourselves intellectually. She taught us that it was okay to be angry and unapologetic about the way we felt about institutionalized racism and sexism. As a womanist she fought hard for women to be accepted in this patriarchal world and she also separated herself from the idea of what “feminism” was due to the isolation it created towards Black woman/woman of color. 2016-03-11T18:53:27Z Comment by Habesha Nayele 3) James Baldwin- I was inspired by his writings about race and race relations, his writings are so raw and moving and he fought so tough to diminish the stereotypes of black people and create a place for them in to belong in all spaces. He was recognized by so many notable institutions and persons that he opened so many doors for people of color in the world of art. 2016-03-11T18:53:21Z Comment by Habesha Nayele #2) Octavia butler-She is one of the few black sci-fi writers whom has taught me to use my imagination to hope for a better tomorrow through painting myself in what seems to be a “fictional” world. She tells us to break the barriers that are put in places and create a space where you belong. For a very long time I only read white sci-fi authors but once I found there were people of color that were in this genre I was taken by storm and she is truly magical 2016-03-11T18:53:11Z Comment by Habesha Nayele #1 1) Mumia Abu Jamal- He is a political prisoner who has an incredible writing talent but not only that as he is still incarcerated today he continues to use his voice and mind to help liberate people from the daily oppression of white supremacy. 2016-03-11T18:53:00Z Comment by Habesha Nayele It was very challenging to narrow it down to just four people, my dinner table wasn’t big enough for all my favs but here is my list. :-( 2016-03-11T18:52:41Z Comment by Danielle Wilson 63 my absolute favorite episode thus far! 2016-03-09T18:16:10Z Comment by Shanice25 hey guys! where I'm from in canada we have a big problem with human trafficking amongst the black community I'm in. There are lots of guys that prey on high-school girls and get them to go "work" for them, these girls always have low esteem or are in poverty. The girls who go and strip and come back and flaunt their name brand possessions so other girls see it as a glorified profession, but the behind the scenes from what I've heard a horrid! My beef with strip clubs are the conditions in which girls work, it's sleezy to me. so people who go to strip clubs can sometimes be viewed as part of the problem (funding the pimps who mistreat the workers). The NAACP Rep has free will and hasn't hurt anyone, but the fall out is unfortunately apart of her roll. Ps don't forget about your neighbors (black canadians) I urge you to Google Nova Scotia black community. 2016-03-09T17:41:11Z Comment by Simita I'm your 8000th follower on soundcloud! 2016-03-09T13:45:12Z Comment by Julie Culture has been telling women for centuries that their only value is in sex and we make commericials and shows with the idea that sex sells... but when we are confronted with that truth (via the realities of stripping or prostitution) , we want to act like it's such a terrible thing. And God forbid a woman is actually PROUD of her sexuality. Our culture wants women to believe they're only good for sex, but wants them to be ashamed of it. 2016-03-09T00:54:43Z Comment by petitecurlycane right in line with my psychopharmacology notes :-) 2016-03-08T22:59:02Z Comment by Bokang Dinner guests: 1) Netta-just off the strength of her "Girl I said Black" tweet. 2)Jesse Williams- he is woke, gorgeous and I am 12 seasons deep with Grey's Anatomy. 3)Barack Obama- I remember the goosebumps from when he got elected and I just want to ask him what it feels like to be the first. And I would also love to learn what he really feels about the trifling congress he has to deal with. Lastly, Ta-Nehisi Coates because I have read "Between the world and me" too many times. And I would it would be interesting to have him and Barack Obama talk about their perspectives on hope and the African-American community 2016-03-08T05:45:59Z Comment by Jack Jack 15 1,Eartha Kitt -because I love her unapologetic attitude. 2,Bob Marley- because he embodied what I think a True Human being is. 3,Harriet Tubman- because her determination to physically make a change, 4 Jesus, because He's my Homie! 2016-03-06T04:47:02Z Comment by Raisa Charles I love this podcast so much. The nerve of people to say they like the Wellness Segment but the other parts are ratchet?! This is my weekly dose of wellness because it provides so many laughs. 2016-03-04T21:21:29Z Comment by musicshewrote @Fran: - which Osho book would you recommend?
