The Family Gold Chicago The only time I ever saw my Grandpa weep was while listening to Hank Williams. He was a farmer, a drinker, and a lover of classic country music. He’s also the reason I started The Family Gold with my Wife, Michelle Morales. Michelle and I have toured the country on multiple accounts as the experimental cello and drum duo, The Loneliest Monk. Over the last couple of years though, our attention has been pulled back to the roots of American music. We started focusing on early country, blues, and hillbilly acts such as Moon Mullican, Bob Wills, and Lefty Frizzell; the kind of music that makes you wanna stomp the floors, poor a stiff drink, and then cry a little. So Michelle snagged an upright bass, I pulled out the ol’ six string, and we began writing and playing and singing. Soon after, I met our drummer, Seth Bohn, who played in the iconic Chicago rock band, Mannequin Men. Finally, we invited western swing fiddle player, Anne Beal, to join. Now we had a band, and we were ready to make some real noise. Alright Now is our first set of recordings. It features four original songs and a Charley Jordan cover, and was recorded live in Chicago, Illinois during a single October evening. You’re going to hear some country, you’re going to hear some blues, but most of all you’re going to hear, The Family Gold. We aim to take what we love, and play it for you in our own new way. Please enjoy, preferably with a glass of the good stuff. - Miles The Family Gold’s tracks Unwanted Company by The Family Gold published on 2016-11-14T19:24:51Z Keep It Clean by The Family Gold published on 2016-11-14T19:25:05Z Sunday Car by The Family Gold published on 2016-11-14T19:25:19Z Rolling Deep by The Family Gold published on 2016-11-14T19:25:47Z Absolutely Nothing by The Family Gold published on 2016-11-14T19:25:33Z I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive (Cover) by The Family Gold published on 2016-03-15T16:29:08Z I'm Good by The Family Gold published on 2015-12-07T07:48:59Z
