The Drifter Luke Luke Abbott Seattle The son of evangelical missionaries, Luke Abbott was born a drifter moving around the world, from California to Japan, finally settling in western Washington. His life was the Baptist church; following in the footsteps of other Christian singer-songwriters like David Bazan, Abbott attended Northwest University, a Christian liberal arts college in Seattle where he studied music. It was in college that his religious commitment started to waver, following a series of faith-shattering events like the divorce of his parents and witnessing religious hypocrisy up close as he rose through the ranks as a music pastor. Abbott eventually traded his faith community and all his possessions for a fishing boat in Alaska after the loss of his mother. It was here The Drifter Luke truly stepped into his songwriting, in the solitude of the Chatham Strait.
