Frankfurt & Los Angeles
Within the 10 years of his career in the music industry, DJ Kitsune has turned from a music lover to one the most influential djs in the german urban music scene.
After being named the new dj and co-host of the country’s biggest rap-mixshow “Dope Beats” on Frankfurt radio station XXL radio in 1999, he began producing his first mixtape trilogy “Forces of Nature” that helped spreading his name on a nationwide level. After XXLfolded by the end of 2003, he moved on to be the resident of the “Clubnight” on youfm until 2006, a mixshow format on national tv and the oldest and most legendary mixshow in Europe with viewers and listeners from all over the continent.
Being the official live-dj for Azad, DJ Kitsune released several award-winning mixtapes in less than 12 months, which immediately resulted in numerous requests to do live shows with most of the biggest german rap artists, making him one of the most requested djs of the country.
2006 turned out to be another milestone for DJ Kitsune, as he was named the first german dj to join DJ Whoo Kid’s (50 Cent / G Unit) Shadyville DJ coalition. Around the same time his mixtape with german rap star Curse hit the billboard charts in Germany and Switzerland and his own label released highly acclaimed mixtape-albums with Rasul, benefitting from europewide distribution through the SonyBMG powerhouse. DJ Kitsune also played club shows all over Europe in top-level venues like the “Kaufleuten” in Zurich, the “Splash!” Festival in Germany, the “50 Grad” in Mainz, the “Unity” in Frankfurt, or in hot spots like New York City or Tel Aviv.
Within a time span of only few weeks DJ Kitsune did shows for Eminem’s satellite radio station “Shade45″ and several other BDS monitored stations in markets like Cincinnatti or the Bay Area, released his newest mixtape “Victory 3″, was nominated for the award of the “Best International Mixtape DJ 2006″ at Justo’s Mixtape Awards and did a brief club tour through Germany with SonyBMG recording artists Curse. The beginning of 2007 was even better with Kitsune winning the award for “Best National DJ 2006” at the HipHop.de-Awards.
In 2008, DJ Kitsune took his award-winning mixtape series “Victory” to an all-concluding next level by putting together an all star cast album of the same title, combining some of the greatest talents of the USA, Germany, Switzerland and Canada. The album’s first single “This Little Thing (Remix)” featuring Talia “The Doll” Coles and D-Flame received heavy rotation airplay on german music video stations.
After holding down a legendary Saturday night at Frankfurt’s top club “Unity” for 5 straight years, DJ Kitsune moved on to focus on playing selected clubs all over Europe while showcasing his musical talents on his weekly radio show for Germany’s leading urban radio station Jam FM. In early 2010, DJ Kitsune became the first hip hop dj to be requested to play a special performance alongside one of Germany’s most renown classical orchestras, the hr-Sinfonieorchester for an audience of more than 3000 people.
Today, DJ Kitsune is one of Europe’s leading djs and musical tastemakers and CEO of his own management and publishing company. His influence and musical guidance helped the careers of many European artists and created a worldwide attention span. While one of Germany’s biggest daily newspapers “Sueddeutsche Zeitung” refers to DJ Kitsune as the “hardest working man in German hip hop”, he is considered to be one of the most skillfull, influential and well-rounded djs in Europe.
