Anakyn - Point Blank by Anakyn published on 2012/11/06 13:03:14 +0000 Out now at Beatport: http://smarturl.it/PointBlank Following the relaunch of Pete Tong’s revered and highly influential FFRR label, the first single in the club-focused FFRR White series is coming courtesy of Anakyn. The instrumental version of ‘Point Blank’ will be released alongside a Nicky Romero edit on 19th November in partnership with Big Beat. Already garnering huge support, Nicky Romero’s edit has racked up over 56,000 plays on his soundcloud alone since featuring as Pete Tong’s Essential Selection on BBC Radio 1 last month. The instrumental version of ‘Point Blank’ is an expertly crafted and effortlessly emotive progressive club track. Brought in on a swell of shimmering bittersweet piano notes and rising synths, the track builds to an uplifting climax as Anakyn release a driving drum line showered in cascades of soaring synths. Having recently joined the Top 20 in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll, Nicky Romero steps up to rework the track with his own edit. Moving away from the heavier electro sound with which he is synonymous, Romero stays true to the spirit of the original with its uplifting synth work and soft keys while injecting some trademark grit with a grinding bassline to re-enforce the low end frequencies. FFRR, which stands for Full Frequency Range Recordings, was originally founded by Pete Tong in 1986 as a subsidiary of London Records. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s FFRR scored considerable European success with its diverse roster. The new single from Anakyn is just the first taste of new music from the re-invigorated label, with lots more on the way over the coming months.
