The -UOM- Auditory Art
-UOM- Auditory Art is a multi-disciplinary sound project that pairs non-traditional, vintage, and electronic instruments with improvised performance techniques. Originally founded in 2007 by Eduardo Balerdi and Daniel Fiordia, -UOM- has a history of collaborating with vocalists, poets, and visual artists to create a unique sound experience.
UOM’s most recent project is a cutting-edge collaboration with three Miami vocal artists, Spencer Bambrough, Atena Sherry, and Sabii V. These independent artists have come together to create dynamic compositions that are in constant conversation with the environment of sound they inhabit. They utilize a range of vocal techniques from poetry, to song, to synthesized sounds. This new -UOM- collaboration takes audiences on a journey that stretches between energized cacophonies and tranquil ambience. The vocalists interlace their honest and cathartic poetic musings into the fabric of sound that Daniel and Eduardo create. The members of -UOM- listen to one another to find a common ground upon which they can freely compose. They make space and take space in turn to express their sorrows and joys, creating the open meditative environment that is -UOM- Auditory Art. In 2012, they received an honorable mention from Miami New Times Magazine’s Mastermind Award.
