Hailing from Cologne & Berlin Germany, The SEWER RATS have made a name for themselves as one of Europe’s finest punkabilly acts, playing more than 400 shows worldwide, touring Europe, China, Japan & the U.S. with their slicked-back juvenile signature sound of catchy rockabilly and greasy punk rock. Walking the line between Stray Cats-cool, early 90s Social D. and old Rancid, the band sounds like Mr. Ness and Mr. Setzer were hanging out with Hank Williams, teaching him new skateboard tricks while drinkin beers on a hot summer night. The band was started in 2005 by singer and guitarist Chris Gin and upright bass player Puck Lensing, who also played for Frantic Flintstones, Barnyard Ballers and The Caravans. Putting out a split 7‘ with Swiss Punkabilly legends The Peacocks – 500 copies of the record were sold in Japan alone – The SEWER RATS kickstarted their career and toured extensively accross Europe, sharing the stage with the who-is-who of the international punk rock, rock n roll and psychobilly scene like Dropkick Murphys, The Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag, Mad Sin, Demented Are Go, The Meteors, The Quakes, King Kurt, The Bones to name only a few. The band released their debut album „RAT ATTACK“ on the infamous German BITZCORE label in 2008, becoming label mates with Turbonegro, Cocksparer, Peter Pan Speedrock and The Turbo AC’S. In 2010 the band put out their „Drunken Calling“, E.P., which includes circle pit evergreens like the title track „Drunken Calling“ or the melodic country-punk tune „Magic Moment“. For their second full length album „Wild at Heart“ the band worked with German top-notch producer Uwe Sabirowsky (Mad Sin, Beatsteaks / Epitaph Europe) and the record was released in 2011 followed by extensive touring of Europe. In 2013 The SEWER RATS headed abroad to play a 3 weeks China tour, being the first Punkabilly band ever to tour China and performing at the Beijing Midi Festival in front of 40,000 people. After playing the famous Mighty Sounds Festival - Europe’s premier festival for punkrock and rock n roll - in summer 2013, the band embarked on their first U.S. tour in early 2014, playing Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Diego among other cities. In May 2014 The SEWER RATS tourred Japan with Japaneese label mates Dice for Lights, headlining the release party for the Japaneese „Punkabilly Shakes The World Vol 3“ sampler and playing sold out shows in Tokyo, Toyama, Nagoya and Osaka. The band toured the U.S.A. for the second time in summer and kicked-off their tour by playing Long Beach Psyclone Festival, the biggest rockabilly and punk rock festival on the west coast. The tour included Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Francisco, where the band performed at punk rock mecca Gilman St. in Berkeley. Right now the band is working on their third studio album.
